Queenstown Lakes District Council for the role of Engineer to Contract for the Frankton Track Wastewater construction phase.
The existing gravity main along Frankton track is a high criticality asset. The sewer main is nearing capacity and carries a risk of untreated wastewater overflowing to the receiving natural environment (including Lake Whakatipu) in heavy rainfall events or natural disaster.
Additional wastewater conveyance capacity between Queenstown CBD and Frankton Beach Pump Station is required to maintain levels of service and support projected demand growth in the area. A new pressure sewer main to run adjacent to the existing pipeline has been identified as the preferred solution.
Improvements to the track will be made as part of the wastewater pipeline installation (e.g., strategic widening, stormwater management, pause-points etc.)
The objectives of the pipeline replacement are as follows:
• Provide for future development of the catchment (next 30 years)
• Relocate wastewater infrastructure from within private land, avoiding the need for easements
• Provide an acceptable level of service to those properties connected to the existing WW pipe
• Improve security and resilience of the pipe route and prevent contaminants entering the natural environment
• Provide conveyance capacity to help alleviate issues associated with the current infrastructure
Engineer to Contract (EtC) Services are now required for the construction phase of the project.
