Overview
The National Policy Statement-Urban Development (NPS-UD) requires tier 1 and 2 local authorities to prepare a Future Development Strategy (FDS) every 6 years and in time to inform, or at the same time as, preparation of the next Ten Year Plan. QLDC is defined as a tier 2 urban environment in the NPS-UD and so QLDC and ORC (Otago Regional Council), are jointly required to produce an FDS. The basis for the FDS will be the current Spatial Plan, building on its successes.
