Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) will soon be inviting tenders from physical works contractors to deliver the current three year low cost low risk (LCLR) transportation programme. At a high level the programme is worth approximately $15m.
The programme covers a range of activities from minor safety interventions (e.g. installation of guard railing and safe pedestrian crossing points) to larger scale intersection improvements and active travel routes. The programme is intended to improve the safety and connectivity of the district’s transportation network. The majority of the initiatives are funded through Waka Kotahi’s ‘Road to Zero’ strategy, which strives for a New Zealand where no one is killed or seriously injured in road crashes. Waka Kotahi have set a target to reduce deaths and serious injuries by 40% by 2030.
The intent of this notification is to provide the contracting market with visibility of the pipeline of upcoming projects to aid with resource planning.
