3 Waters LTP Programme, Industry Engagement

Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) is investing significantly in its 3-waters infrastructure assets to meet demands associated with population growth, the need for upgrades and renewals and the need to deliver 3-waters in accordance with certain levels of service. “3-waters” includes storm-water, water supply and wastewater.

The volume of the 3 Waters work programme is unprecedented in Queenstown. QLDC recognises the importance of continued early engagement with design and construction suppliers, to keep them informed of the intended timeframes and procurement routes to be adopted.

QLDC intends to release work packages in a combination of stand-alone and bundled packages, through both traditional and Design and Build contract forms. Irrespective of the contract form used, the success of the programme depends on the ability and willingness of the industry’s suppliers to work collaboratively to facilitate the concurrent delivery of multiple projects and workfronts.

QLDC would also like to initiate a conversation about the challenges of recruiting infrastructure professionals to Queenstown and the potential to collaborate on recruitment initiatives.
