Overview

QLDC is looking to engage suitably qualified and experienced contractors to undertake harvesting, roading and log cartage services for the harvest of its Coronet Forest, located on the lower slopes of Coronet Peak, near Arrowtown.

It is anticipated that separate contracts will be awarded for each of the following services. Respondents may register their interest in one or any combination of the following:

- Harvesting
The scope of harvest operations will include road-line salvage to support road construction activities, as well as clearfell harvest. The total harvest volume will be approximately 70,000 tonnes of 30 to 34 year old Douglas Fir.

- Harvest access roading
This will include the upgrade of Alan Reids Road, as shown on the drawings included as Appendix 2, plus the construction and maintenance of the harvest access road and log processing skids generally as outlined on the harvest planning maps included as Appendix 1. The scope of work will include earthworks construction, the supply and construction of culverts and drainage, the supply and construction of unbound granular pavements.

- Log Cartage
The scope of log cartage operations will include the uplift and delivery of approximately 70,000 tonnes of logs from Coronet Forest to customers located in the Otago / Southland Region.
