Overview

he Ōpōtiki Netball Courts are located at Memorial Park on Albert Street and comprise six netball courts constructed in April 2005. The facility is complemented by the Memorial Park Pavilion, which was opened in March 2013 and serves as an important hub for sporting and community activities.
The courts play a vital role in supporting sport and recreation within the Ōpōtiki District and are extensively used throughout the year by a wide range of community groups. Ōpōtiki Junior Netball utilises all six courts during the winter season to run its junior netball competitions, while the Ōpōtiki Sports Club regularly uses the facility for muster events, weekly training sessions, and hosted fixtures. The courts also accommodate inter-school sporting events for local primary schools, district-wide competitions, pā wars, and various social netball tournaments and community activities.
Following an assessment of the condition and ongoing performance requirements of the facility, Council identified the need to upgrade the existing court surfaces to ensure the courts remain safe, fit-for-purpose, and capable of supporting future community use.
In December 2025, Ōpōtiki District Council approved a project to deliver the resurfacing of the Ōpōtiki Netball Courts. The project is to be delivered in two phases;
PHASE 1 - ASPHALT RESURFACING: will see a new asphalt surface laid on top of the existing asphalt – these works are to be completed in November/December 2026.
PHASE 2 - HIGH REBOUND ACE CUSHIONED COURT SURFACE INSTALLATION on at least three of the six courts – these works will be delivered under this contract and are required to be completed in January 2027.
This tender presents an opportunity for experienced suppliers to deliver a highly valued community infrastructure project that will support sport, recreation, and community wellbeing for many years to come. The successful contractor will play a key role in revitalising a well-utilised facility that serves local clubs, schools, and the wider Ōpōtiki community.
