In the case of a fleeing driver event, there are a limited number of tactical options available to officers in order for them to resolve an event in a safe and efficient manner. Providing officers with limited tactical options when addressing a fleeing driver event, could result in poor decision making, adverse public reaction, IPCA reviews and/or ultimately in death and serious injury of either the fleeing driver or members of the public. Currently, the on the ground tactical options that are available are either the use of tyre deflation devices (TDD) and/or to complete a non-compliant vehicle stop.
