Overview

The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) has released this Request for Information (RFI) because it is seeking information for the intended replacement of the Defence Land Mobile Radio Telephone System (DLMRTS).

The DLMRTS is currently a non secure VHF radio telephone system originally designed to fulfil communication requirements for transport control, emergency services, airfield safety and bombing range safety. To achieve this, radio repeaters were installed around the country and Motorola terminal equipment and portables issued to end users. In addition to this, NZDF adopted the Emergency Services (ES) band, including designated common channels for interoperability with emergency services.

The current equipment and infrastructure used in the DLMRTS is no longer maintainable. NZDF is looking for a new communications solution and is receptive to proposed solutions other than traditional radio communication in part or whole which meet NZDF’s Business as Usual requirements and episodic external interoperability with Civil Defence, NZ Police, NZ Fire and other government agencies.

At this stage, NZDF is only seeking information from the market to see what solutions can be provided and gauge indicative costs. This is a Request for Information (RFI), not a Registration of Interest (ROI). NZDF will, at its sole discretion, decide whether or not to issue a formal RFP.

PLEASE NOTE: The tender is available on NZDF's SmartProcure website https://nzdf.bravosolution.com. Suppliers must log on to access the tender and submit a response. Registration is simple and free, just click "register now".
