This New Plymouth District Council tender will be accessible via Tenderlink, and is only being advertised via GETS. All further communications related to this tender will be conducted through TenderLink.
The New Plymouth District Council (NPDC) requires an experienced and suitably qualified design-and-build contractor with specialist expertise in pedestrian suspension bridges to design and construct a replacement for the Urenui Swing Bridge.
This procurement aims to deliver a safe, resilient, and durable pedestrian crossing with a minimum 50-year design life. The new bridge must demonstrate improved resilience to flooding, erosion, and future climate-change impacts, while reducing whole-of-life maintenance and operational risk.
The contractor must have proven experience delivering infrastructure projects in marine and coastal environments, including the ability to identify, manage, and mitigate ecological impacts on flora and fauna. The solution must be culturally appropriate and developed in alignment with Ngati Mutunga (the iwi which has mana whenua across the rohe) preferences, and must comply with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
The primary objective of this procurement is to engage a capable civil infrastructure contractor with demonstrated capacity to deliver integrated engineering design and construction services under a design-and-build arrangement.
The successful contractor will be responsible for providing a complete, fit-for-purpose solution that meets NPDCs technical, environmental, cultural, and operational requirements, and that can be delivered within the approved budget and program.
