NPDC is seeking to engage a suitably qualified and experienced operator to manage The Sorting Depot under a renewed operational model that delivers a high performing, economically viable, and environmentally sustainable waste sorting service. The successful operator will be responsible for maximising resource recovery, improving operational efficiency, and reducing waste to landfill through fit-for-purpose processes and technologies. The service must integrate with NPDC’s wider waste management system, provide a clear mobilisation and transition plan for recommencing operations (the facility is currently closed), and contribute to long-term waste minimisation outcomes through enhanced material diversion, improved safety, reduced manual handling, and sustainable financial performance.
We seek a renewed operational model that delivers a high‑performing, economically viable, and environmentally sustainable waste‑sorting service. At a high-level, we are seeking an operator with:
Proven experience operating comparable waste‑sorting or resource recovery facilities.
Strong operational and project management capability.
Excellent health and safety practices.
Ability to work collaboratively with council staff.
A clear commitment to high‑quality service delivery.
