Overview

We need a contractor who can complete the design, fabrication, and installation of a new 400m3 water tank at the
New Plymouth Water Treatment Plant (NPWTP). The tank is to be installed on a greenfield site adjacent to the
existing treatment plant site and is to be completed and available for connection to our plant by 1 September 2027.
Geotechnical data for this site is attached to this RFP.
The tank (filter backwash supply) will have a working capacity of 400m3 and shall have a DN300 flanged inlet, a
DN600 flanged outlet and scour valve arrangements that allow periodic flushing of accumulated solids from the
bottom of the tank. It is preferred that the backwash tank have bottom working water level of 2 metres above
ground level, as this will allow us to eliminate a set of pumps for the backwash duty. The tank will be cycled from
200-400m3 once a day, with a draw down time of 8-10 minutes and a refill period of several hours. On some days
this cycle may be repeated.
The tank is to be designed and constructed to meet the seismic requirements of the location (for an IL4 structure)
and potable water standards. NPDC will engage with one of the professional service consultants on our professional
service panel to ensure that the works are properly documented to NPDC’s draughting standards and to assist with
design review and safety in design processes. The Successful Respondent will provide their drawings and design
information to this professional service consultant.
