The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) seeks to engage providers to deliver additional Income Related Rent Subsidy (IRRS) Housing Services in Whangarei, Hamilton, Wellington, Lower Hutt and Christchurch from December 2016.
MSD seeks to trial purchasing additional IRRS places utilising new tailored, contractual arrangements with additional subsidies to generate and secure new social housing supply outside of Auckland with high unmet housing needs. MSD requires the new social housing supply to be delivered by December 2019.
This trial seeks to provide MSD with market knowledge about price point settings for procuring new social housing provision outside of Auckland and what is required to induce new social housing supply.
The aim of this Service is to:
• provide additional social housing places for prospective tenants from the MSD Housing Register, over and above the current availability of social housing places
• ensure that places are available in the right location for the right duration
• use this as a trial to provide MSD with market intelligence about what is required to induce new supply in areas outside of Auckland.
