Overview

The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) seeks to engage providers to deliver temporary Emergency Housing Services in Auckland from 1 January 2016. The aim of the Emergency Housing Service is to provide short-term accommodation and individualised support services for individuals and households that have an emergency housing need.

The Government is seeking innovative proposals for how these emergency housing and support outcomes can best be achieved.

The accompanying support services should assist households to transition to a stable personal and financial position and achieve a long-term housing solution within an expected maximum stay of 12 weeks. To help bed-in a sustainable housing solution, providers will also be expected to continue to work with individuals/households for three months following their transition out of the Emergency Housing Service.

The Service will be delivered over a 24 month period as the Government moves to restructure its existing model of emergency housing provision into a cohesive national approach that achieves better emergency housing outcomes.
