The purpose of this engagement is to obtain external consultancy support to deliver the statutory Review of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission.
The Commission is an independent Crown entity established under the Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission Act 2020, and the responsible Minister is required to commence a review of its operation and effectiveness after the initial five-year period.
The Review will assess the Commission’s operation and effectiveness, examine its purpose and objectives from the ground up, and develop recommendations on its future state, including whether its current functions should be narrowed or widened.
The Ministry of Health will lead the Review, with the external provider undertaking the core engagement, analysis and reporting work, supported by Ministry oversight and subject matter expertise, as well as independent expert advice.
