Overview
The Government has progressed legislative changes through the Education and Training (System Reform) Amendment Act, which transferred responsibility for setting standards for teachers and Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programmes from the Teaching Council to the Secretary for Education, on 6 July 2026. To support implementation of these changes, the Ministry requires specialist regulatory and thought-leadership expertise.
