The Ministry of Education (the Ministry) was provided with a directive from the Minister for Education to support the Government’s Literacy Guarantee, which is focused on teaching every child to read using a Structured Literacy Approach (SLA) at primary school. To support this directive, the Ministry is working to provide schools with access to teachers who have expertise in providing targeted and tailored (Tier 2 and Tier 3) support to enable students with additional learning needs to successfully learn to communicate, read and write.
