The New Zealand Institute for Skills & Technology (working name) is looking for a permanent home for its Headquarters. We need a vibrant location in which to create a new kind of organisation that will provide both work-based and off-the-job vocational learning and training right across the country.
The Institute will be a unified, sustainable, public network of regionally accessible vocational education, bringing together the existing 16 Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics.
It will have the national and regional reach required to become a long-term skills training partner for firms and industries, enabling learners and employers to move between workplaces and other educational offerings and between locations as their needs change.
We need the new home to be in Aotearoa / New Zealand with robust links to other population centres via air, road or rail.
Minister Hipkins has announced that the location cannot be in Auckland or Wellington. It must be able to support the arrival of a new Headquarters function and have infrastructure in place to support the Institute now and into the future.
The Institute is looking for credible locations that meet the needs of the organisation now and into the future. They need to have a demonstrable track record of effective networks and strong relationships within their local community.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a major New Zealand education initiative. The national Institute will be a brand new type of educational organisation, and through the Headquarters function your locale will have the opportunity to strengthen vocational education and learning throughout New Zealand while generating additional inwards investment into the future.
