The Special Needs Modifications (major works - part 2) at Northcote College are a component of the wider SNM CDP (Batch 7.0 and 7.2) project which commenced in 2013, and includes modification works at 23 schools in the Auckland area. Generally the modification works have been minor in nature (ramps, doorway modifications, replacement paving etc), and are generally complete or nearing completion.

The general scope of this project; 'Special Needs Modifications (major works - part 2) at Northcote College' includes the following three areas of works;

F Block Raised Walkway:
Construction of a new covered raised walkway structure at the second storey level of the existing F Block classroom building (Nelson type block), and new paving, steps and SW drainage works at the lower (ground level). Some associated electrical and fire safety system modifications are also required to the Existing F Block building as part of this component of the works. Additionally, the existing F Block building has asbestos cladding panels that are required to be removed in some areas, and modified in other areas as part of this work section.

T Block Passenger Lift:
Construction of a new Passenger lift tower adjacent to the existing T Block and Gym Pavilion buildings, along with new paving and accessible steps at the upper and lower levels of the lift. Some associated electrical and fire safety system modifications are also required to the existing T Block and Gym Pavilion buildings as part of this component of the works.

Accessible exterior Footpath and Ramps Network:
Construction of a new accessible footpath and ramp network including associated retaining walls, steps, handrails, & WW drainage modifications, terrace seating extensions around the perimeter of the existing field area and a small section of path at the lower drive below the T Block & Gym Pavilion buildings.

The services required is that of a main construction contractor to undertake the Special Needs Modifications (major works - part 2) at Northcote College as scheduled in the attached documentation. The successful main construction contractor will be engaged by the MoE under the MoE Major works construction contract, administered by designgroup architects h+k Ltd.
