The Board of Trustees of East Otago High School (the Buyer) is seeking a main contractor for Innovative Learning Environment (ILE) modifications and an accessibility upgrade at East Otago High School (the School).
ILE modifications will be made to Block A, and includes the conversion of a four-classroom block to create three ILE classrooms along with a breakout space. These classrooms are intended to align more closely with the Ministry’s Design Quality Learning Spaces (DQLS) standards, and as such new central heating and ceiling insulation will be installed. As part of this work, a full fire upgrade will be required, including the construction of two firewalls in this space, installation of a Type 2 Fire Alarm System, and new illuminated exit signage. One boys’ and one girls’ toilet will also be refurbished as part of this project. A partial roof replacement will also be carried out to remedy existing weathertightness issues in Block A.
The accessibility upgrade includes the construction of a new full facility accessible bathroom, a new standalone changing room for pool and gym use, a new covered deck to Block A, and site-wide modifications of ramps, handrails and stairs, and the modification of site works in selected areas to provide level access.
