The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) is advancing the Future Air Mobility Capability – Strategic (FAMC–S) Project (Project), which aims to deliver replacement Strategic Air Mobility Capability , via the release of a Request for Information for the FAMC-S Project (RFI). The current capability, consisting of two Boeing 757-2K2 aircraft, has been in service for over 30 years and is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain. Consequently, the New Zealand Government has directed the Project to expedite the replacement of this capability.

The New Zealand Ministry of Defence's first step in securing replacement capability is to use the RFI to inform a detailed business case which will be presented to Cabinet, outlining the proposed solution(s) and the whole-of-life costs. Upon approval of the business case, the Project will proceed to procurement for the purposes of contracting with the preferred solution from July 2025.

This RFI seeks Responses from select Respondents who have the requisite skills, knowledge, experience and capacity to provide either the complete solution or portions of the solutions as detailed in the RFI documents.

Additionally, respondents who submit a response to the RFI, are also invited (subject to availability) to present the solutions to the project team either in person or via teams during late September and early October. Details of this and how to register are outlined in the RFI and in the covering email(s).

This notice relates to the Request for Information (RFI) released on GETS for FAMC-S in 2024. The objective of the RFI was to obtain information from industry to inform future capability planning and procurement activities. The Ministry of Defence received and reviewed industry responses and has completed its evaluation of the information provided. No supplier was selected and no contract was awarded as a direct outcome of this RFI. The information obtained has been used to support subsequent programme planning and related procurement activities.
