Overview

The purpose of the Maritime Helicopter Replacement (MHR) project is to deliver a sustainable, maritime embarked aviation capability to meet the needs of the Royal New Zealand Navy’s combat, patrol and sustainment forces. The project aims to deliver a future naval aviation capability to coincide with the planned withdrawal of the SH-2G(I) Seasprite helicopter in 2028. The service period is anticipated to be at least 25 years.

The next step is to undertake an Opportunities Assessment, this will provide an initial understanding of the viability of investing in a replacement and its implications for the New Zealand Defence Force. To inform the project, the team is inviting Industry, Institutions, and Academia to contribute to a series of workshops. The first of these workshops is a brainstorming session that will identify innovative and viable opportunities for the replacement of the SH-2G(I) Seasprite. We will also consider opportunities for other aspects of the solution, such as in-service support and training.

Further details and registration documentation can be found in the attached.

Companies, Institutions, and Academics interested in participating in the workshop should RSVP to industry@defence.govt.nz before 5 pm on Wednesday 3rd November 2021.
