The New Zealand Government has signalled its intention to introduce the P-8 operational capability at RNZAF Base Ohakea. The project name is the Air Surveillance Maritime Patrol (ASMP) Project. The Infrastructure component is called P-8 Infrastructure Programme.

The ASMP project requires the construction of 12,000m² of hangars, office accommodation, warehousing, and technical buildings to accommodate the relocated units. It is currently envisaged that all of this accommodation will be new construction. In addition to the building works, the underground services will require replacement or expansion of capacity, and significant civil works, such as aircraft hardstandings, connection to taxiways, roading and car-parks are also required.

The NZDF wishes to select a Prime Consultant to undertake the Master Planning and design development for the P-8 Infrastructure Programme and to manage the subsequent design and construction programmes through to completion of the Project.
