Overview

In May 2017 the Ministry of Defence sought responses to a Request for Information for potential solution options and estimated costs for the ANZAC Communications Upgrade project for the two RNZN frigates HMNZS TE MANA and TE KAHA. This delivered comprehensive information for a fully compliant system, but the information did not provide sufficient detail to construct different levels of capability. Additional information was sought via a second RFI released in August 2017 to inform the business case and to enable the selection of an affordable Upgrade Solution.

Respondent information is currently being evaluated to assist Defence in the development of the Business Case in respect to Defence’s general procurement need. The Business Case will detail potential Upgrade Solutions for approval by the New Zealand Government. It is anticipated that a RFP will be issued on receiving Approval to Proceed from Government.

Following the release of the “Optimising New Zealand Industry Involvement in the New Zealand Defence Sector” report which was made public on 22 October 2014, the Ministry of Defence advises that the following companies (see attached file) responded to the first and/or the second ANZAC Communications Upgrade Request for Information.
