Government Procurement is critical to the delivery of public services and contribution to the economy, with government agencies spending approximately $39 billion each year (around 18% of GDP) across a wide range of goods and services from third-party suppliers.

Our annual business survey gives you the opportunity to feedback on your experiences of bidding for government contracts. We also want to understand your experience of government contract management.

Over 650 businesses responded to our inaugural survey in 2013/14. Feedback revealed a number of areas where government agencies can improve their practices to better support the business community when bidding for and supplying government contracts.

We’ve taken actions to address the concerns raised, including:
• ongoing government agency capability development,
• a pilot of government model tender templates to improve consistency of practice across government,
• working with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise on an Online Resource Centre with enhanced information and tools to better support suppliers when bidding for government contracts, and
• extension of the Government Rules of Sourcing, (the government’s minimum standards of procurement practice) to an additional 103 agencies from 1 February 2015.

A year on we want to know what changes you have noticed and what more we can do to improve your experience working with government.

Please take 10 minutes to complete the survey and help improve the way we do business together.
