Overview

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) requires monthly estimates of regional tourism expenditure for the primary purpose of producing the Monthly Regional Tourism Estimates (MRTEs) and the Household Tourism Expenditure Estimates (HTEEs).

The objective of this procurement is to find a supplier to provide data for the primary purpose of producing the MRTEs and HTEEs.

The procurement’s proposed outcomes are as follows:

• Obtain any new innovative methods of estimating regional tourism spend
• Give all potential suppliers the ability to bid for the provision of the required data.
• Find the supplier that offers the best methodology and robust measures to capture information on international and domestic regional tourism expenditure.
• Achieve an outcome that represents the best possible value for money.

The procurement will deliver the benefits of having a robust way of estimating of regional tourism spend that allows MBIE to generate economic insights on tourism in New Zealand. These insights allow Regional Tourism Organizations (RTOs), local councils and tourism businesses to plan and make investment decisions.
