The NZ Battery Project (as part of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment) is looking to determine the feasibility of renewable energy storage and flexible generation options in response to New Zealand's 'dry-year' problem (when hydro inflows and the subsequent generation become scarce). We will shortly be going to market to engage a supplier to investigate the technical, environmental and commercial feasibility of non-hydro solutions to the dry-year problem. The study will be used to help inform advice to Cabinet (May 2022) on what suitable option, or combination of options, should be developed in further detail.
Please find attached an RFP and supporting documents for the NZ Battery Project (Phase 1: Other Technologies).
