The Tui oil field was operated by Tamarind Taranaki Limited (TTL) until November 2019, when the company went into receivership and liquidation. The Tui field is located 50 km off the Taranaki coast. It is a subsea development, featuring eight wells requiring plugging and abandonment (P&A) and associated infrastructure on the seafloor to be removed.
The Crown has taken on the responsibility of the disclaimed assets, and with it, the responsibility for decommissioning the oil field, which is at the end of its life.
The request relates to the planning and implementation of decommissioning the Tui oil field. MBIE is interested in better understanding market capabilities, including understanding what suppliers in the market are likely to be interested in tendering for this work at a later date, and what information they may need when putting together a proposal.
