The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) requires monthly estimates of regional tourism expenditure for the primary purpose of producing the Monthly Regional Tourism Estimates (MRTEs) and the Household Tourism Expenditure Estimates (HTEEs).
We are looking for tourism expenditure estimates at a modified Territorial Authority geographical unit level (the definition of which will be provided by MBIE), for international and domestic visitors. These estimates must be accurate enough to support regional and sub-regional tourism planning, and are expected to be produced using electronic card transaction (ECT) administrative data from a bank or payment network.
