The Electrical and Building Occupational Licensing Team is part of the Consumer Protection and Standards Branch within the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) and carries out the function of registration and licensing of electrical workers for the Electrical Workers Registration Board (the Board). The Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010 (ESR) requires that any employer licence must be certified by an “approved person”.
The purpose of this Invitation to Qualify (ITQ) is to identify suppliers who are interested in being an “approved person” so they can provide the Services (Section 2). Those suppliers who are interested will be required to become a certification body accredited by JAS-ANZ or equivalent accredited organisation. In the normal course of events, MBIE will provide a list of suppliers to the Board for final approval. Suppliers will be notified as to whether they have been successful or not in becoming an “approved person” by MBIE once this decision is reached by the Board.
