Overview

KiwiRail Holdings Limited ("KiwiRail") invites pre-selected parties to submit their tenders ("RFT Response") to deliver the Ongarue River Protection Works ("the Goods/Services") to KiwiRail.
The primary outcome of the Contract works is to deliver River Protection works along the Ongarue river embankment at NIMT 401.2km (Site 1 only) to stabilise and protect the side slopes of embankment from erosion to protect the rail corridor to ensure the track remains operational and safe to use.
The scope of the Contract Works is as described below. The contract includes delivery of one site at NIMT 401.2km location only.

The Contract Works shall comprise the works described with the various documents including without limitation:

a. Development of a detailed, site-specific construction methodology.
b. Design of access track: Undertake design checks including stability assessments of the embankment for the proposed access track from the rail side. Design criteria are to be confirmed with KiwiRail Civil Engineering prior to undertaking any design works (temporary and permanent).
c. KiwiRail will obtain the resource consent and Iwi approvals, based on the construction methodology provided by the contractor. Works on site shall commence only after all statutory approvals have been received.
d. Undertake all necessary arrangements and safety protocols for working in proximity to the railway corridor, including compliance with access permits, protection arrangements, and all applicable rail safety requirements.
e. Implementation and maintenance of erosion and sediment control measures in accordance with consent conditions, Iwi requirements, and ecological conditions, to prevent sediment discharge into the waterway during all phases of construction.
f. Site establishment: The initial stage would include (but not limited) to the following:
• Protection and/or relocating any services that are required to be temporarily or permanently relocated for the period of construction.
• Site clearance of vegetation to allow machinery access and platform setup if required.
g. Construction of an access track to enable placement of riprap.
h. Placement of the riprap in accordance with the design drawings and specifications.
i. Compliance with all conditions of the resource consents and Iwi approvals. Consents and approvals will be obtained by KiwiRail, and the associated conditions will be provided to the contractor for implementation.
j. Reinstatement of disturbed areas
