Supply of Portable Generator Sets (Sustainable Concept) to KiwiRail

KiwiRail Limited ("KiwiRail") is requesting information ("RFI Response") regarding the supply of Portable Generator sets (Sustainable Concept) and Maintenance Services (“the Goods/Services”), with a view to subsequently preparing a formal Request for Proposal (“RFP”) to be issued to the market should this option is considered as providing value for money to KiwiRail. Potential respondents capable of providing the Goods/Services ("Respondents") are invited to respond to this RFI issued by KiwiRail.

In the present RFI process we are looking at Environmentally Sustainable Concept, which will contribute to KiwiRail’s sustainability targets. Sustainability is central to KiwiRail’s business activities, and the organisation has set carbon emissions reduction targets to reduce emissions by 30% by 2030 and to be net zero carbon by 2050. KiwiRail has an energy management programme in which opportunities across the business to reduce carbon emissions are identified and a pipeline of initiatives is developed to help reach these targets. Fuel efficiency is a critical part of our commitment to carbon reduction, and we seek to work collaboratively with our suppliers to continuously improve our performance in this area.

By conducting the present RFI process KiwiRail aims to discover if there are alternative solutions to Portable Generator sets equipped with diesel engines, including engines using other fuels and engines requiring less diesel.
