Overview

This EOI is issued by KiwiRail through its capital projects & asset development business for the purpose of obtaining industry knowledge and expertise on the excavation, cartage to a potential stockpile location or recycling facility (yet to be determined) of excavated rail ballast material across its Auckland rail network (Spoil Management).
Kiwi Rail wishes to work with leaders within the waste management industry to investigate initiatives that can be implemented to manage the spoil volumes that will be generated from the railway formation upgrade project.

Initiatives include but not limited to: -

o Establishment of a spoil processing facility which is compliant with relevant environmental and resource consent requirements.
o Undertake trials to determine what NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) products can be formed or blended with other materials from waste spoil.
o Further investigate other products or uses for the spoil material.
o Conduct a trial to confirm actual volumes and types of NZTA products that can be formed.
o Incorporate best practice sustainability solutions into all proposals.
o Evaluate and recommend alternatives options.
