Overview

Recently we have had an unprecedented level of rail development and as a result KiwiRail is currently delivering the largest rail capital projects ever seen in New Zealand. The scale of this funding creates an opportunity to transform the way we work with a focus on our long-term future.
To achieve this KiwiRail is investing in digital engineering to change the way we work. We are doing this by:
• removing risks in construction and delivering efficiently
• creating asset information once that we can use and re-use,
• giving more people access to useful information (democratising 3D models)
• collaborating so we can bring all our teams on the journey

Our Digital Engineering Framework
The KiwiRail Digital Engineering Framework is the backbone of how we aspire to digitally deliver capital projects and it aligns with the ISO19650 Standard. Within this public notification you will find version 3 of the Framework. We want this document to be made widely available to our supply chain, understood, and applied. Members of our supply chain have already played a significant role in collaboratively inputting into the evolution of this document and we want this approach to continue.
Our Digital Engineering Framework is an open source document and we welcome your feedback.
Digital Engineering Supplier Survey
The purpose of this survey is to engage with both our current and potential future supply chain to understand your current digital engineering capabilities and future aspirations. It is also to give our supply chain an opportunity to provide feedback and insights on how we can implement digital engineering so that it adds value for both KiwiRail and your businesses and grow’s the industries maturity.
KiwiRail recognises that to implement digital engineering and its benefits we must work collaboratively with our partners. We see digital engineering as more than digital tools and processes but ultimately changing the way we work and deliver projects.
So, what’s in it for me?
Well, we are hoping that you can take a moment to fill this out, as it will enable us to better understand your organisations capabilities, our perceived maturity as asset owner organisation and how both parties could benefit in the future.

The survey form will be emailed to Derek.Jannings@kiwirail.co.nz

Kind Regards,
The KiwiRail Digital Engineering Team
