KiwiRail's iReX Project has been established to replace the existing Interislander three ship fleet with two new, rail capable ships to be brought into service during 2024, with the phased delivery of the new ships envisaged to be approximately no more than 6 months apart.

KiwiRail invites respondents that can offer, directly or through partnership with others, the capacity and capability to supply two (2) new rail enabled ro-pax Ships to register their interest by submitting a response to EOI 2019-193 Supply of Ships.
