Overview

Kāpiti Coast District Council is seeking a competent and experienced civil construction contractor to undertake the physical works to upgrade existing pedestrian crossings, construct a new crossing, and deliver associated safety and accessibility improvements.

The works include reconstruction of four (4) existing zebra crossings into raised safety platforms, conversion of one (1) existing Kea crossing to a flush pedestrian zebra crossing, construction of one (1) new pedestrian crossing and footpath extensions, and safety improvements along Elizabeth Street (delivered as a separable portion). The Contract is to be delivered under NZS 3910:2013 – Conditions of Contract for Building and Civil Engineering Construction, as a Measure and Value contract. The estimated Contract value is approximately NZ $1.5 million (excluding GST). Works are expected to commence in January 2026 and be completed by May 2026.

This project forms part of the Council’s 2024–27 Low-Cost Low-Risk (LCLR) Minor Improvements Programme, co-funded by Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency (NZTA), contributing to the delivery of the Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2024.
