Overview

This advanced notice is to inform the market that Hamilton City Council (HCC) intends to release a Request for Tender (RFT) Mid December (this will be dependent upon completion of design) to procure a contractor for Municipal Pools Demolition works. HCC will be seeking tenders from suitably experienced parties to undertake the physical works and restore the site of the Municipal Pools to parkland. This involves the demolition of the pools facility, which was granted resource consent in 2020. Once the pool complex has been removed, the Municipal Pools Site Restoration and Interpretation Plan provides a concept plan for the site restoration. It includes details about the physical restoration of the site (e.g.,landform, amenities and connections with the wider landscape) along with the interpretation and commemoration of the site’s rich and celebrated history. HCC are seeking a suitably experienced civil engineering lead contractor to oversee the works for the demolition of the municipal pool facility and site restoration. The Contractor will need a high degree of experience in building demolition (or have previous experience working with specialised demolition sub-contractors,), Management of asbestos and contaminated soil, civil earthworks and retaining wall construction, health and safety traffic management, consent management and excellent communication. A separable portion of the contract will involve site restoration and landscaping with attention to detail on finishing for public use and provision of a reinforced grass path, public seating, interpretive signage and a mural. The anticipated contract start date will be March 2022.
