The Principal (Hurunui District Council) is looking for a suitably qualified Contractor to undertake the
construction of a sewer main in the township of Cheviot. This work is to install new sewer main including
new manholes, and replacement of existing sewer main while retaining existing manholes.
The main tasks involved in this Contract are:
- Construction of 265m of new DN225 uPVC
- Construction of 365m of new DN150 uPVC
- Construction of eight 1050mm Manholes
The sewer line to be installed is approximately 630m, comprised of 365m of DN150 uPVC and 265m of
DN225 uPVC. Starting from Reeves Street on the western side of SH1 from wastewater manhole (WWM)
363, the pipeline will replace existing asbestos concrete pipe with DN225 uPVC between manholes leading
up to WWM365 and to connect to a new manhole immediately prior to SH1. Across SH1 at WWM368,
existing concrete pipe will be replaced up to WWM372. Entering Hutchinson Street, DN150 uPVC will be laid
from WWM372 with no existing pipeline. Alignment continues north to McQueens Road before terminating
into existing WWM374. A new manhole will be installed inline existing pipeline at the start of Caverhill Road,
extending north until it terminates at WWM352. Pipe capping will be made downstream of WWM352 and
WWM374.
A provisional scope of works for installing 35m of DN225 uPVC across SH1 is included in schedule of
quantities.
The Contractor is to supply all pipe, manholes, fittings, connections and to perform all required pipe
inspection and testing. The Contractor will also be responsible for all health, safety and environmental
aspects of the project. The Contractor will be responsible for the reinstatement of all surfaces to the same
or better condition.
