Background and Performance Requirements

Kāinga Ora is embarking on a transition to delivering lower-carbon, healthier, more comfortable, sustainable homes with lower energy bills for our customers. It is driven by several large change initiatives:

• Changes to New Zealand Building Code insulation requirements (Clause H1 energy efficiency);
• New Zealand Government Procurement guide to reducing carbon emissions in building and construction;
• Government’s Carbon Neutral Programme; and
• MBIE’s Building for Climate Change Programme.

The purpose of this RFI is to undertake a market sounding and to gain a more detailed understanding of the supplier market and the range of solutions (and associated products/components) that may be available.
We are particularly interested in a more integrated solutions that can drive efficient, best practice based with proven track records/outcomes, the solutions that may replace currently specified materials/products, for example:

• Mechanical Heat Recovery Ventilation systems replace bathroom extracts in all new dwellings.
• Heat pump hot water cylinders replace standard electric resistance hot water cylinders in all new dwellings.
