Overview

The opportunity
This RFP is issued by Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities, referred to below as “the Buyer” or “we” or “us.”
Our governing legislation, the Kāinga Ora–Homes and Communities Act 2019 (the Kāinga Ora Act), sets out our objective, this includes providing affordable housing options that meet diverse needs and types of housing. As our property portfolio grows and diversifies, we have the opportunity to introduce new methods to support communities. The re-development of the central Auckland site at Grey’s Ave will take this one step further enhancing individual and collective well-being with a communication channel in the form of a ‘digital community platform’. Incorporating time-banking, event registration, communal space booking for tenants and community.

The ambition is for the economic, environmental, social, and cultural contribution we make to the inter-generational wellbeing of communities to be at the heart of the work that Kāinga Ora does.Programme Raranga has been developed as part of Grey’s Ave to assist in providing homes, foundations of and a set of tools to create a community for tenants. Grey’s Ave is the first single site supported housing within our portfolio. We have worked closely with street whanau, current customers of Kāinga Ora and Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei weaving together solutions and growing together. The programme is an integral part of exploring how Kāinga Ora could enable thriving communities when delivering public housing.
