Housing New Zealand (the Client) is a Crown agency that manages state housing on behalf of the New Zealand government. Its role is to provide healthy, comfortable and fit-for-purpose housing for people in need, for the duration of their need.
Housing New Zealand focuses on the efficient and effective management of state houses and the tenancies of those living in them. Housing New Zealand owns or manages approximately 64,000 properties nationwide, including about 1,500 houses for community groups providing residential services. More than 184,000 people live in Housing New Zealand properties.

Housing New Zealand (HNZ) requires Project Management to assist with the delivery of properties being retrofitted in 3 regions (Bay of Plenty, Hawkes Bay & Gisborne and Canterbury).
The Retrofit Programme has been piloted in the Hutt Valley with 66 properties completed in 2018 and a further pilot of 200 properties is currently underway in the Hutt Valley and due for completion early 2020. The overall intent of the Retrofit Programme is to increase the number of properties that are warm, dry, and safe by focusing on interventions to existing HNZ properties that will improve the thermal performance of the property and to achieve as close to new build standards through the renewal of significant components, including the upgrade of kitchens & bathrooms, and the creation of open plan living areas.
