We are seeking registrations from experienced ground improvement contractors with a proven track record in the construction of ground improvements and in particular, concrete ground improvement lattices, for the Gisborne WWTP Stage 2 Upgrade. The Stage 2 site is adjacent to the existing treatment plant and is prone to liquefaction and seismic and load induced settlements. The Stage 2 design uses compact plant design and a number of ground improvement techniques which have been tailored to meet the resilience requirements of the individual process units. The selected ground improvements include the following:

• Concrete ground improvement lattices with overlaying engineered raft under the liquid stream processes. It is expected that these will be constructed using overlapping CFA piles or using Cutter Soil Mix (CSM) or Deep Soil Mixing (DSM) techniques.
• Bored piles under the solids dewatering process and loadout building
• Engineered rafts underneath the lighter or less critical structures
• Sacrificial sheet piling of pump station wetwell

The Buyer is currently undergoing a parallel ROI process for Main Works Contractors. Ground Improvement Respondents will be shortlisted for the Main Works contractors to seek proposals from. The Main Works Contract Request to Tender (RFT) will be released early November 2020 with construction intended to proceed in early 2021 and completion required by May 2022. The ground improvements are expected to take three months, starting in February 2021.
