Overview

This ROI seeks to shortlist experienced Main Contractors for the construction and commissioning of the Gisborne Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Stage 2 upgrade. The Stage 2 upgrade includes provision of interstage pumping, clarification, tertiary filtration, disinfection, sludge handling and dewatering to augment the existing treatment process. The Stage 2 upgrade design has been fully detailed by the Buyer’s design consultants for the Main Contractor to construct and commission. The Buyer has already procured 5 long lead equipment packages (clarifiers, tertiary filters, UV, sludge screw presses and interstage pumps) for the Main Contractor to install.

The general scope of the Main Contract includes all civil and structural works, extensive geotechnical ground improvements, construction of three buildings to house plant and electrical switchgear, construction of 3 large concrete water retaining structures, construction of steel support platforms for outside plant, design and construction of some access platforms and walkways, supply and installation of mechanical plant including but not limited to pumps, package pump stations, conveyors, blowers, tanks, odour control unit, package septage reception), gravity and pressure main pipes, electrical and controls equipment, building services and drainage and tie ins to the existing plant.

The purpose of this ROI is to enable the Buyer to assess the current capabilities and availability of the construction sector in New Zealand to deliver a medium size brownfield WWTP upgrade.

Respondents will be shortlisted and invited to proceed to submit a tender for the construction works. The subsequent Request to Tender will be released early November 2020 with construction intended to proceed in early 2021 and completion required by May 2022.
