Overview

The Gisborne District Council (Council) is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from interested parties to carry out design concepts for the Turanganui River Bridge, a significant component of the Navigations Project. The scope of works will be to develop conceptual drawings and associated cost estimates for a bespoke footbridge that reflects the unique culture and heritage of Tairāwhiti. The bridge will form part of the Tairāwhiti Navigations Project.
The intention of this EOI is to find suitably qualified and experienced engineering consultants to develop concepts for a footbridge to link the harbour slipway to the existing walkway near the Waikanae Stream. Council has allocated up to $30,000 to develop concepts for Council and community consideration. Subject to a review and approval process, one concept will be selected for construction, which may involve more than one consultant. Further funds will be allocated to develop the chosen concept at the detailed design phase.
Any proposal needs to demonstrate prior experience in bridge concept design and show an understanding of specific project requirements. In particular Council is seeking an applicant who can think innovatively to produce a bespoke bridge that will form the centrepiece of the Tairāwhiti Navigations Project.
