This RFQ is for the project management of aerial distribution of non-toxic and toxic bait across a defined treatment area within the Papakai Area for the control of pests in the form of rodents, mustelids and possums and includes: Managing all parts of a successful operation from obtaining consents and permissions, consultation, planning and organising of logistics, provision of suitable aircraft, personnel, equipment and collection of GIS data necessary to the successful delivery of the Services.
Implementation of robust Health and Safety practices will ensure the safe delivery of the Services.
This RFQ forms part of a package of three procurement opportunities in the Coromandel region:
Papakai
Hauraki Southern Forests
Whenuakite
Suppliers are required to submit a separate response for each RFQ.
The Department intends to award a single supplier across all three operations, provided a suitably capable supplier is identified. This approach is intended to reduce the overall cost of consultation and permissions activities by enabling these requirements to be planned and undertaken across the three sites as a single programme of work.
When preparing responses, suppliers should consider their capacity and availability to deliver across all three areas, including their approach to managing consultation and permissions activities across the programme.
Frog Protection Area
Public Health Unit (PHU) conditions in previous operations have required an 80m setback from the Tapu Coroglen Rd. Given the windy nature of the road, this has resulted in a significant gap in treatment between the Papakai and Southern Forests operations, leaving the frog population unprotected.
The Department would like to provide predator protection for this frog population.
The area is heavily bush clad and steep, making it unsuitable for ground control.
The Tapu Coroglen Rd is a gravel road, bush clad to the road edge, with low usage. The Department intend to approach the Waikato PHU to get the road setback reduced to 20m for the frog protection area.
The Department is seeking highly accurate bait distribution proposals from contractors to be able to apply bait close to this 20m setback, following the windy contour of the road and also apply bait to the remainder of the frog protection area.
Prefeed and toxic bait delivery would occur the day of, or the day following, the Papakai prefeed/toxic operations.
