Overview

The Central Plateau of New Zealand’s North Island is a major tourism destination for both domestic and international visitors attracted to its diverse landscapes including forests, mountains, lakes and rivers. Purpose of this RFP is to enhance the visitor experience at the Tongariro National Park Visitor Centre, with a focus on engaging visitors with the stories of Tongariro, to create positive impact.

The objectives of this initiative are to:
- Improve the visitor experience at the Tongariro National Park Visitor Centre, using foundational visitor experience principles.
- More effectively engage visitors in the stories of Tongariro, so that they: better understand the significance and specialness of this place; know how to behave appropriately here; are inspired to take care of Tongariro, and other special places.
- Use the Learning Outcomes Framework to effectively re-design the interpretive offer at the Visitor Centre.
- Contribute to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing Project objectives and benefits.
