The Department of Conservation ("DOC") is intending to establish a panel of suitable contractors for the construction and upgrade of public-use tracks in DOC's Lower North Island region and all four South Island regions. Also included in the proposed panel's scope will be the cutting and maintaining of tracks that DOC uses for biodiversity purposes (and which are not intended for public use) in DOC's Western and Southern regions of the South Island.
The purpose of the proposed panel is to make it easy for both DOC and contractors to be engaged for specific track work activities. (DOC already has a similar track panel in place for the remainder of the North Island.)
DOC intends issuing on GETS a Registration of Interest ("ROI") for contractors wishing to join the panel. Contractors will be able to select in the ROI the region(s) and the type(s) of work they apply for for panel membership.
Indicatively, the ROI will be released on GETS around July/August 2021.
Note that prior to the proposed panel coming into effect i.e. following the completion of the ROI process and panel arrangements being established, DOC will continue to issue, where relevant, procurement requests (such as Requests for Tenders) for specific track work engagements in these regions. Thus, there will be an interim period when DOC may be undertaking on GETS procurement activity for specific track work engagements and also, separately, the establishment of the Lower North Island and South Island track panel.
This notice is purely to inform the market of DOC's intentions. There is nothing that contractors need to do as a result of this notice. Any further information updates, and the proposed ROI, will be provided by DOC on GETS. Contractors who have any questions regarding the proposed panel will be able to ask these via GETS once the ROI has been issued.
