Overview

We want to alert motivated and capable construction suppliers to an exciting upcoming opportunity at Dolomite Point, Punakaiki, on the South Island's West Coast. The project - known as the Dolomite Point Redevelopment Project (DPRP) - is currently in its final (detailed) design stage.

We will go to the market in mid-2021 via GETS seeking a main contractor plan to commence construction later in this calendar year.

The Department of Conservation (DOC) is leading this project, working closely with and for Ngāti Waewae, and funded by the Provincial Growth Fund (MBIE).

The DPRP aspires to be an exemplar of modern and sustainable development in a sensitive natural setting and includes a new approximately 1,200m2 architecturally-designed Experience and Exhibition Centre, complete with living (green) roof and adjoining elevated and layered outdoor decking; significant car park and access redevelopment; walkway/pathway construction and pedestrian promenade/streetscape upgrade; landscaping; and services installation (mechanical/electrical/hydraulic etc).

It is expected (but yet to be confirmed) that specialist timber, glass, and roofing (living/green) suppliers will be nominated.

A simulated fly-through of the early developed design of the project's Experience Centre (as produced by the appointed design architect, Sheppard & Rout) can be viewed at this link: https://youtu.be/Qpy9uRBN3KE

Please note: No information from prospective suppliers is required from this Notice of Intent (NOI). Interested suppliers should ensure that they are registered to receive updates to this notice.
