The DCC utilises Carbon Dioxide dosing at Southern and Mount Grand Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) to ensure compliance with NZ drinking water standards, to control the disinfection and final pH of water leaving the site.

The current contract for the supply of liquid carbon dioxide has expired and needs to be renewed as a matter of urgency. Failure to ensure the supply of liquid carbon dioxide will compromise the DCC’s ability to meet its obligation to provide potable water supplies that meet NZ drinking water standards and will pose a health risk to our residents and visitors to the city.

This is an opportunity to ensure we realise the optimum services and value for money provision of carbon dioxide supplies for coming years.
