Overview

The Council is seeking responses to this Request for Proposal from suitably experienced contractors undertake construction
of a new stopbank structure on the southern side of the Rangitata/Rakitata River South Branch, to the west of SH1. This
contract involves the construction of a total of approximately 3045 metres of stopbank at three locations on the site. Also
included is the realignment of approximately 200m of Stock Water Race and the associated insertion of two culverts. Details
of works required are included in the Specifications in Part C and in the Contract Drawings in Part E.
The works sites for the stopbanks are located on private property. All necessary agreements are in place with the landowner
with regard to this work. The Stock Water Race is a Timaru District Council (TDC) asset, and crosses into the road corridor.
TDC has been consulted with and is supportive of this work. A Services Consent will be applied for by the Principal. The
Contractor is required to apply for a Corridor Access Request for working within the road corridor, and work must be completed
by a TDC Infrastructure Approved Contractor.
Works will require sourcing of approximately 22,000 cubic metres of gravels and sediment from the Rangitata River's main
branch riverbed to the North of the work site and shaping and compacting this material to form the new stopbanks. A Gravel
Authorisation has been sought for the extraction of this gravel. The locations of gravel extraction are shown in the Contract
Drawings.
