Overview

Work Type Roading, Granular Overlay

Council is seeking tenders from Construction Contractors experienced in road construction to undertake work to improve the road pavement strength and undertake minor road widening on the Stephen Road. Stephen Road is located to the East of Westport. The roadwork and widening will be confined to the narrow legal road boundary through 1.2Km of Stephen Rd from the intersection with McKenna Rd to the East to Scotts Bridge.

The improved pavement strength will be achieved by ripping/milling the existing sealed surface, then building up from the existing road level with an additional nominal 200mm thickness of AP65 /AP40 overlay compacted and sealed. The completed road will have 2 x 3m lanes with a 0.2m sealed shoulder on either side. Road closures may be used for the road section between McKenna Rd and Excelsior Road with the remaining works being done under lane closure. It is anticipated that works will take place between September and December 2026.
